SENIOR PART-QUALIFIED / NEARLY QUALIFIED ACTUARIAL TRAINEE
A permanent position has arisen within the Actuarial department for a senior part-qualified (or nearly qualified) Actuarial Trainee.
The role would suit an individual with at least three years’ experience working for a life insurance company as part of an actuarial training scheme, who can demonstrate good progress with the IFoA (or equivalent) examinations. As part of a small team, but with the ability to work independently, the ideal applicant will have a proven track record of undertaking reporting work.
The role will also involve exposure to other areas of actuarial work, including pricing and product development, actuarial liability modelling, and the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the company through project work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take an active role in external reporting, including the production of valuations to appropriate standards and within agreed timescales.
- Contribute to internal financial reporting, including experience investigations, ensuring adherence to agreed methodologies.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of actuarial liability models, checking data extract routines, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Support the maintenance and development of illustration systems for bespoke quotations and ensure ongoing adherence to actuarial calculation specifications.
- Provide actuarial support for product development and pricing exercises, including updating illustration systems and Prophet models, performing profit-testing, and updating product documentation.
- Assist with actuarial project work as required.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least three years’ experience working for a life insurance company, ideally on the Isle of Man, although applicants from other jurisdictions will be considered.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of attention to technical detail.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting, with experience of the Isle of Man Risk-Based Capital regime being beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively within a team while also being able to work independently when required.
- A proven track record of delivering internal and external financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions within prescribed timelines would be an advantage.
- Student member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent body), making good progress with the examination syllabus, having completed at least the Core Principles subjects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the company.
- A self-starter with the initiative to work independently while seeking support when appropriate.
