Role Overview
The Account Manager with Business Development is a dynamic role that combines managing key client accounts with actively driving new business growth. You will be responsible for nurturing existing customer relationships while identifying and securing opportunities for market expansion within the drinks wholesale sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on customer satisfaction, sales performance, and strategic market engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Account management includes serving as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of key customer accounts, building and maintaining strong client relationships to enhance customer retention and satisfaction, conducting regular account reviews to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities, resolving customer issues promptly and professionally, and collaborating with internal teams such as purchasing and customer service to ensure smooth order fulfilment and delivery.
Business development involves identifying and actively pursuing new business opportunities within the drinks wholesale market, engaging prospective customers through networking, outreach, and participation in industry events, developing tailored proposals and presentations to win new business, and staying updated on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
Sales performance requires meeting or exceeding sales targets by effectively managing existing accounts and securing new business, preparing detailed sales forecasts and performance reports for management review, and analysing sales data to inform decision-making and refine strategies.
Strategic planning includes collaborating with sales and marketing teams to develop strategies for account growth and market expansion, and contributing to the creation and execution of promotional campaigns to support sales initiatives.
Brand representation involves representing the company professionally at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events, while demonstrating a thorough understanding of the company’s product portfolio and the drinks industry as a whole.
Skills and Experience
Required skills include proven experience managing customer accounts, ideally in the drinks wholesale or FMCG sectors, demonstrated success in identifying and securing new business opportunities, a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders, and the ability to analyse customer data and market trends to drive strategic decisions.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred), three to five years of experience in account management and business development roles, familiarity with CRM software and sales reporting tools, and a valid driver’s license.
